African Union directly commends SOAWR for assisting delivery of the Uganda ratification

On behalf of H.E. the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, I wish to take this opportunity to thank and congratulate SOAWR and all NGO networks in Uganda, who worked for many months and round the clock at the Kampala Summit for the ratification of the Women’s Protocol last week. News alert: Uganda ratifies the AU Protocol on the Rights of Women

Congratulations to Akina Mama wa Afrika and Uganda coalition members and

other SOAWR members (Equality Now, FEMNET, WOLPNET, WRAPA) who have

tirelessly engaged in ensuring that Uganda ratify the Protocol. Uganda

becomes the 28th AU member state to ratify the Protocol. This is wonderful news and is the result of a huge amount of very hard work by many people and organisations.
