Empowering poor women to engage effectively in governance
Women’s participation in national politics across the Middle East and North Africa is the LOWEST in the world. But there are women who want to make change happen and want to actively engage in political and civic life throughout the region. Where women have been involved as such – social, economic and political gender inequality has reduced. But more needs to be done – we need to give women a voice, especially those of the most vulnerable and marginalized.
Across the region, Oxfam is working with partner organizations to empower thousands of women and help make their voices heard. We have already seen the impact of this work;
