Empowering women to engage effectively in governance
"It remains a fact that gender parity is a challenge for women across the globe. Yet the African continent boasts an exemplary legal instrument that guarantees comprehensive rights to women - The Protocol to the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights on the Rights of Women which marked its 10 year anniversary on July 11, 2013", writes Nairobi based Faiza Jama Mohamed of Equality Now in her article summarising the historic importance of the protocol and how it has been used to advance women's rights across the continent.
